Reading Schools Out and About

In the early days of December, we celebrated our East Lothian Reading Schools partnership with a fantastic day of Christmas-themed events at Wallyford Primary School.

Sibéal Pounder, the bestselling children’s author who is local to the area, brought us festive fun and facts as she introduced her new book, Sprouts, and asked intriguing questions such as:

• Would you love it to be Christmas every single day of the year? . . . really?
• Have you heard of The Krampus, or Befana the Italian witch?

Sixteen East Lothian schools have joined Reading Schools for the first time this year and are working away towards their accreditations. Cockenzie Primary School celebrated their Core award in June as the first accredited Reading School in East Lothian and are already on the way to earning their Silver trophy!

Support is being offered to all East Lothian Literacy Leads through a series of online drop-ins and an in-person event planned for the new year. (this will open in a new window)Contact us for more information.
